Queen Cheryl Malia Brost is of Hawaiian heritage and resides in Puako (Waimea, HI).  Cheryl’s maternal grandmother was Mary Aileen Kahailiopua Stillman who was born and raised on Hu’e Hu’e Ranch in Kona on the slopes of Hualalai.  Cheryl’s 3x great grandmother, Ke Ali’i Kamaka Oukamakaokawaukeoiopiopio Stillman was an Ali’i of the Kingdom of Hawaii as well a prominent figure after its overthrow through equestrianism as a Paʻu rider in the Kamehameha Day celebrations, as well as an acknowledged authority on Hawaiian genealogy and oral chants.  Cheryl had an affinity for horses herself becoming a 2-time National Champion showing horses in her youth.  She is known worldwide as an elite CrossFit Games Athlete and has claimed the “Fittest Woman in the World” in her age division 3-times.  Cheryl and her…

George Gouveia named Grand Marshal of 2024 parade

George Martin Gouveia, son of John Gouveia and Virginia DeGuair, was born in 1927 and raised in Holualoa, Hawaii. George is the fourth of six children in his family. George married the love of his life, Henrietta Rodrigues, and together they have two daughters, Claudette and Pearl. George has three grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. George left home in 1947 to join the Army and was drafted to the Korean war. Upon returning home, George worked for Palani Ranch as a Cowboy and did that for 12 years. He then went to work for Sure Save Supermarket as a butcher and retired after 15 years. After retirement, George enjoyed helping his brother-in-law at his landscaping nursery.
